The Maine Puppy Chapter was created in May, 1993 with a cute little pup named “Moxie.” Since then, the Maine Puppy Chapter has raised 96! puppies that have graduated to become service, hearing, and social dogs, and dogs for the ministry. We have a great group of foster parents for the pups. These “raisers” bring their puppies everywhere they go ~ to doctors’ offices, grocery stores, school, work, and restaurants. Raising a puppy is rewarding BUT very difficult when it is time to give the puppy back for advanced training, but despite this, most people raise more puppies. Graduation (three times a year) is a special time for the puppy raisers and the clients. Raisers meet the person NEADS’ trainers have matched with the pup they have raised, and they can see the end result of their hard work and love! We are looking for special people to be puppy raisers, willing to donate services to Maine pups. We are also looking for people to donate obedience classes for the puppies’ training. Both are fun, rewarding and important experiences. For more information on the Maine Puppy Chapter, Linda Sargent
