Doggie-Dorm Program

When our dogs come to NEADS for advanced training they live in individual runs our kennels -- "doggie dorms."  When a dog in a doggie dorm is matched and leaves NEADS, a new dog moves into the doggie dorm. Over the course of a year, approximately five dogs live in each doggie dorm while they learn customized skills that will eventually help their future human partner.

With a $3,500 tax-deductible donation to NEADS, you can sponsor one of these doggie dorms to help all the dogs who will reside there during the year. Your partnership will provide enrichment the pups need while in their doggie dorm -- fun toys, peanut butter treats and nylabones, to name a few.  Our dogs like their dorms!  By supporting multiple dogs in a dorm, you become an active and vital part of NEADS.

Doggie Dorm Benefits Include:

  • A photo of each dog that resides in your designated dorm room as they arrive on campus so you can see how they settle in.
  • A photo when our trainers match your dog with a human partner who is deaf or has a physical disability. You'll get to see how your dog looks now -- eager and willing to work for their beloved partner. And remember, you'll get to see this transformation in up to five of your dorm's residents!
  • Best of all, you will be our special guest at the intimate parties and elaborate graduation ceremony of your assistance dog teams.

The Fine Print

Your donation provides a home for all the dogs that reside within the dorm of your choice for one year from signup date.  Please understand that we do sometimes release and adopt to loving homes dogs that do not have the right temperament to be assistance dogs (for more information on this, visit our Furloughed Favorites program).   By sponsoring a dorm, you do not own or retain any ownership rights to our dogs.

Funds donated to sponsor a dorm cannot be restricted for a specific client or assistance dog discipline (i.e. hearing dog, service dog, canine for combat veteran).
