To Whom it May Concern:
In June, our principal Diane Ryczek adopted Savanna from your organization. We are so fortunate that Diane shares this wonderful dog with our entire school community. Savannah has touched more lives than we can imagine simply with her presence and her unique personality.
Savannah works with me in our consoling department. Students approach me and tell me their stories; she comforts students who are angry or upset by offering her paw or giving them a hug. She brings joy to students with her humorous personality. When she wants to hold “hands,” the students know they have to hold her paw until she is ready to walk away.
This year we offered an after school program called Walk and Talk where Savanna and I take a group of ten students to the local bike path and walk for an hour or so. There was tremendous interest in the program because of Savanna and we added another day. During the activity, students take turns walking her and they take great pride when she follows a command. They also learn to be responsible community members during the walk and on occasion, they stop and tell other walkers about Savanna with great pride. This allows students to interact with older individuals they normally would not speak to.
This year our school celebrated Red Ribbon Week and classes made anti-drug posters. We decided to have hat day where students would donate money to the NEADS organization to wear a hat during school hours. Some students and faculty donated money without wearing a hat in honor of Savanna.
I am enclosing a check that we collected from our school community. We thank you for the wonderful work you do and thank you for allowing Savannah and so many other dogs to touch so many lives.
Sincerely,
Victoria J. Moyer and the Conte Middle School Community
