From the desk of Mia Farrow……

I am writing to you as a mother who has seen her son’s life transformed through partnership with NEADS Assistance Dogs.

My 14-year-old son, Thaddeus, uses a wheelchair and crutches as a result of contracting polio in his native India. He’s a typical teenager in so many ways – enjoying sports (particularly fishing), school and time with friends.

Also typical of his age is his need to express his independence. NEADS partnered him with Andre, a handsome Golden retriever, at a very opportune time. In April 2002, Thaddeus spent two wonderful weeks at the NEADS campus in Princeton, along with other teenage boys and one very sweet grandmother (bless her heart!) – all learning to work together with their new canine assistants.

Daily, I see the difference Andre makes in Thaddeus’ life as they meet social and physical obstacles head-on together. So, thank you once again for supporting this organization that enriches the lives of people and dogs every day by giving so generously through your workplace. Every donation counts to help people like Thaddeus.

With much respect for the staff, dogs and supporters who are the NEADS’ family all across the USA.

- Mia
