Thank you for giving me this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is George Breault and I’ve struggled every day with Multiple sclerosis for the past 24 years and have been confined to a wheelchair 21 of those years. I am determined to stay independent as long as possible. However, with the disease progressing that is getting to be more and more challenging every day. Therefore, the time has come for me to consider having a service dog to assist me with daily functions that sometimes seem impossible. I believe a service dog will provide me with the confidence necessary to maintain an independent life style. Some of the rewards of having a service dog would include helping me to pick up dropped items, accessing the fridge, turning lights on and off, and opening doors. If I am in trouble, I can give my dog a command and he will sit by my side and continue to bark until someone comes to help me. My dog will also be a great companion for me since I live alone.
The average cost of raising and training a NEADS dog is over $25,000. To defray these costs, NEADS asks all of their clients to set a goal of raising or contributing $9,500. For this reason, I am asking if you would please consider sponsoring me to help me achieve my goal of obtaining a service dog.
I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide to make owning a service dog possible.
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to read my story!
